K-Pop Music Reviews: TVXQ – Keep Your Head Down – Part I

Title: Keep Your Head Down

Release Year: 2011

Now we’re gettin’ to the good stuff!

TVXQ is one of THE longest-lived K-pop bands in history. It was formed in 2003, and has lasted up until the present day – apart from a few bumps along the way (which I’ll explain later). They are contracted under SM Entertainment – yes, the same guys that formed H.O.T.

Looks like SME knew how to do business.

TVXQ way back in 2003.

They debuted with their first single, “Hug” – which was just as saccharine of a song as it sounded. Nonetheless, it was a good enough song to catch people’s attention. After their auspicious debut, they released a couple more albums before entering the Japanese market in April 2005 with “Stay With Me Tonight”.

So were they successful in Japan? Consider this: when they released their Japanese compilation album in February 2010, it set the new record for the highest first-week sales by a foreign group, beating a record that was set in 1995 by Bon Jovi himself.

And today, we’re going to be discussing their latest single: “Keep Your Head Down”, a song that’s still fresh from the market, being released just three months ago.

TVXQ in 2011...wait, what?

Wait…isn’t there something wrong with that picture?

There sure is. What happened to three of the members? Specifically speaking, where’s Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Junsu? All I see in that picture is Yunho and Changmin!

Did they magically disappear into thin air?

Well, not exactly.

What happened, Changmin?

So…what did happen to them?

That’s for next time. Come back tomorrow for the next installment of my review of TVXQ’s “Keep Your Head Down”.
